Aaron Ball Band is an American band formed and fronted by it's namesake, Aaron Ball. Since its beginning in 2012, the Aaron Ball Band has made a name for themselves as a high energy crowd pleaser. Focusing on the United States, Aaron Ball Band has also done extensive touring in Canada and New Zealand, as well as tour dates in Australia, Japan, and Brazil.    

History[]

Aaron was raised in Idaho and has split his time between living in the United States and New Zealand

One of the first bands Aaron recorded with and toured with was as the guitarist, songwriter and frontman for the Band “Somewhere in the Middle.” Aaron Toured the United Stated multiple times, Particularly the western States and promoted SITM’s first two albums, which he wrote “Stepping Stones” (2008), and then the band’s 2010 “Purple” EP, recorded at Fudge Studios in New Orleans, LA and produced by Tom Drummond (Better than Ezra). As the SITM chapter came to a close, Aaron continued writing and performing as a solo artist until forming a new group under his name.

"New Beginnings”, the Aaron Ball Band's 2013 Full-Length album, showcased a variety of styles from the country/rock guitar driven “Omaha,” to the ballad tones of “Second Gear” which received substantial radio airplay in the United States and New Zealand when it was released.

In 2022, the band released the single "New Strings" with an EP with the same name to follow. In 2023, the band included bassist Morgan Hill. That same year they released three single; "This Road (Acoustic)", "I-35", and "Sense of Humor". The two EP's were re-released as under the self-titled album "Aaron Ball Band" in 2025.

In April of 2025 they released the single "Better Man". Later that year they released the single "Jesus Saves".

Since the start, Aaron Ball Band has shared the stage with some of todays hottest rock and country acts, such as Daughtry, Shane Smith and the Saints, Andy Grammar, Jelly Roll, Them Dirty Roses, William Clark Green, Gary LeVox (of Rascal Flatts), Rob Thomas, Lit, Train, Shinedown, Sick Puppies, Cody Canada, War Hippies, The Wilder Blue, Jeremy McComb, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Great White, Nick Jonas, Mat Kearney , Echosmith, Granger Smith, Sublime, and Smash Mouth to name a few.

Also since the start, Aaron Ball Band has been able to perform for many different fundraisers and benefits to try and make their community and the world a better place. A few of these include the Idaho Foodbank Music Festival (2022[1], 2023[2], 2024, and 2025), Heroes Diving For The Sea (supporting therapies for veterans[3]), and the American Cancer Society Concerts.

Awards and nominations[]

Aaron has received multiple songwriting and performance awards. Aaron’s previous “ all acoustic” record, recorded at Ferry Hill Studio in Auckland, NZ, earned him vocalist awards for two songs: “This Road” and “New Strings.” Additionally, his songs “New Strings” and “Omaha” were both recognized at the Academia Music Awards in Los Angeles, California in April of 2017 and 2018, and their prestigious Executive Award in 2019. In 2023, the band was inducted into the Academia Music Awards Hall of Fame.[4]

Early in 2023, Jared Smith was nominated for a Josie Music Award-Musician of the year.

Also in 2023, the band received 9 nominations for North West Country Music Awards: Music Video of the Year, Song of the Year, National Touring Artist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Drummer of the Year, Instrumentalist of the Year, and Guitarist of the Year. They won first runner up for Drummer of the Year and Guitarist of the year.[5]

In 2024, the band once again was nominated for Josie Music Award-Musician of the year and Americana band of the year[6].

In 2025, the band the band once again was nominated for Josie Music Award-Musician of the year and Americana band of the year as well as Drummer of the Year and Instrumentalist of the Year.[7]

Musical style and influences[]

The Aaron Ball Band has been described as various genres, including americana[8], roots rock[9], red dirt country[10], Southern rock [11]and alternative country[12].

The band have cited bands and musicians such as Kenny Rogers[13], Weezer[14], Creedence Clearwater Revival[15], George Strait[16], Foo Fighters[17], Alabama [18], and John Mellencamp[19] as influential or inspirational to their sound.
